Making Money Online With A Shoestring Budget

by Dean James

Today somebody asked me how to get started with no financial budget to speak of. They wanted to know about hosting and domain registration as well as any free options I may recommend.

If I was starting out today getting hosting and registering a domain name, this is EXACTLY what I would do. What I am about to outline here costs less than 10 DOLLARS in month 1 which is something nearly everyone can afford. Even if you can’t afford it, you can sell something to raise 10 dollars so there’s no excuses unless you don’t have a credit card/paypal account etc.

#1 – Register a Domain Name

You then control the asset. I recommend registering a domain name with a company called Namecheap ( www.namecheap.com ). Enter the coupon CODE AUTUMNLEAVES ( for Nov 2009 ) and I believe this should reduce the domain registration cost to under $9 for the year.

#2 – Get Inexpensive World Class Hosting

You can get the first months hosting for just 1 CENT. Here’s HOW:

So, for under 10 dollars in MONTH 1 you can be up and running with a domain you own and world class hosting in place that is reliable and allows for further expansion as your business grows.

Honestly, anyone that thinks 10 dollars is a barrier to entry for starting up a business should take a reality check.

If you can’t afford 10 dollars then set up your first site/blog using Blogger which is free. As soon as you are making money from this re-invest that money by purchasing your own domain name and getting hosting.  Ignore this advice at your peril.

Setting up a Blogger blog:

Bear in mind that with a Blogger blog you don’t ultimately own or control your asset, so I don’t recommend doing this as a business model for your money sites. However, they are fine as supporting sites that link in/lead to your money site.
