Driving Traffic

Periodically I am going to share some of questions and answers with you to help steer you on the right path building your online business.

Yesterday one of my loyal subscribers asked me the following question:

“Hello, Dean,
probably, it could sound finny, but I still do not understand the structure of linking.
When I tried to make links in my articles to my Squeeze Page, I got a message from Ezinearticles.com, that they allow the links only to content pages, so I had to switch my links to my blog which has a lot of content.
And here everything died.
No traffic, no visitors from my blog to my Squeeze Page. Nothing.
At this point I stopped to submit new articles.
May you advise me, how I have to adjust this system?
Thank you so much!
Anatoly

Here was my reply:

“Anatoly,

Content Cash Secrets is about making money with content/contextual monetization methods such as Adsense etc.

You seem to be doing something different? Writing articles to drive traffic to a lead capture page?

That should still be okay with Ezinearticles providing the link in your resource box goes to the squeeze page on a top level domain. What you can’t do is use an affiliate link, they don’t allow that sort of thing.

I recommend you get your own top level domain and set up a squeeze page on there if this is the route you want to go down.

Also there are more article directories than Ezinearticles.

Other good ones are Goarticles.com, Buzzle.com, Articlesbase.com to name 3. Try submitting to them as well.

You can include aff links in Goarticles.com I believe.

Best,

Dean “

The points to take away from this are:

* Don’t drive traffic direct to an affiliate link from ANY of your article marketing when you can harness that traffic and build a list with it ( regardless of whether the directory allows it or not ).

* There’s usually a way around nearly everything, so don’t give up at the first hurdle.

* Be clear about what you are trying to achieve before you begin ( i.e. have a plan ).

* If you are setting up a funnel don’t dilute it by using a blog if all you want to do is capture leads. The more options a visitor has, the less likely they are to take the action you desire. People are easily distracted.

* Have a clear CALL TO ACTION in your resource box that drives traffic to your squeeze page or online content.

* Invest in a top level domain if you don’t already have one ( i.e. www.yoursite.com )

* Read the Editorial guidelines of an Article Directory before submitting as they aren’t all equal. The higher quality directories tend to have stricter editorial guidelines stipulated. Some allow affiliate links, some don’t. You don’t have to be an award winning writer to submit articles but you should pay attention to basic grammar, spelling and so on.

* Ezinearticles is currently the BEST article directory online, but you don’t have to JUST submit to ONE directory.

I welcome your comments if you have any :)

    Hi,

I always use article marketing to drive traffic to my squeeze pages. Yes, in ezinearticles, don’t put links in the actual article, just put a link to your squeeze page in the author resource box and you should be fine.

    Thanks,

Google is also getting stricker on adsense ads that send folks to a l/c page. Content is king for sure.

As for blogs, you can put your l/c form on your blog ALONG with great content. Make sure it is above the fold and has a good reason (title) to make folks fill in the form.

Marketing is way more than a one step approach. Although lots of folks buy on first impulse, 80% of all sales are made from the 5th through the 12th contact, emphasizing the need for continual followup.
