This is a common question you see in the forums if you spend enough time in them. The truth is there are people making thousands of dollars a month purely from Adsense. It’s also equally true that there are publishers struggling to hit the $100 a month mark.
This scenario is the same for every area of making money online where fundamentals apply and work. Take affiliate marketing for example. There are individuals making seven figure sums from affiliate marketing alone, but there will also be people struggling to make a few dollars. You know the guys making millions? Well, guess what, they weren’t born millionaires. Some of them spent months/years struggling to make money online before they found and applied fundamentals that are proven to work.
What separates the big earners from the people tearing their hair out to make money online? Well, there are a number of factors such as forever chasing shiny objects and getting distracted or doing the wrong things over and over, but let’s talk about Adsense here:
What does it take to earn good money with Adsense? ( a lot of this is common sense which I have covered before )
1) Content – You need content/pages on the internet. Without any pages indexed and searchable online you won’t make a dime from Adsense.
2) Traffic – Not any old traffic though, you need targeted traffic which converts for the advertisers. Do you think social traffic is targeted traffic for making money with Google Adsense? Think again.
3) Website – It is possible to make money from Adsense without a site by partnering up with a site like Squidoo and cranking out tons of lenses but essentially you need your own site to populate with virtual real estate that you can turn into an asset.
Of course there are other considerations such as niche selection, keyword research and site promotion which I will address in more detail some other time but to make money as a publisher you need to put yourself in the shoes of an advertiser. What does an advertiser want? They want traffic to their site which converts into sales. Right?
So as a publisher what YOU need to do is get TARGETED traffic to your site. This traffic ( real people ) is going to see an offer on your site that interests them and is more likely to convert into an action once they are onto the advertisers site. Net result? The advertiser is happy, Google is happy and you’ll be happy because you’ll be making money as a publisher.
So is Adsense dead? You tell me
